March 25, 2009

NASHVILLE, TN, March 25, 2009 – On March 25th, Savannah Music Group will be broadcasting SMG Front Room Live – a live concert for fans who can view live video, fan discussion, and other interactive features on desktops and mobile devices. Music lovers around the globe can tune in to SMGTV at www.SavannahMusicGroup.com/smgtv at 6PM CST for the Front Room Live Celebrity Spotlight with Curb Recording Artist, Hal Ketchum, and again at 8PM CST for an incredible night of music by Nashville’s finest hit songwriters and artists.

Savannah Music Group and a team of close technology partners have partnered together to create an immersive, multiplatform experience that will include live HD video from Bit IPTV along with a live play by play interactive “Snapcast” provided by G-SNAP! allowing viewers to read the concert set list, chat among themselves, send in song requests, and view event photos. Using the latest in Internet, video, and mobile technologies, music fans can now connect with the commentators and friends online, on a global basis via a compelling broadcasting platform. Dubbed a “global music concert,” SMG Front Room Live will be the first of many streamed live online concerts. This blend of technology and music will be the beginning of an exciting new product experience to be announced at a later date.

Savannah Music Group, Inc. is a grass roots independent record label and publishing company located in the heart of Nashville’s new Music Row. Led by veteran hit songwriter, Dave Gibson and Silicon Valley Entrepreneur, Jeff Cohen, Savannah Music Group is on the cutting edge of the entertainment industry in the digital age; trailblazing the path for new and innovative ways to combine music and technology. Dave Gibson, President and Chief Creative Officer of Savannah Music Group, says, “It’s exciting to live in an age where the playing field has been leveled for independent artists and record labels to market and distribute their music using cutting edge Internet technologies. Fans can now step into the living room of their favorite artists and songwriters and even chat with them.” See www.SavannahMusicGroup.com.

Jeff Cohen, President & CEO of G-SNAP! says, “It is wonderful to see music fans able to follow and interact with the concert via a G-SNAP! Snapcast. People are so passionate about music and now they have the ability to join a virtual concert to interact with each other around the globe by attending on their desktops or mobile phones. This event is a prime example of what we hope will be repeated for any and all live events – especially concerts.” See www.gsnap.com.

Sean Wrought, CTO of BIT IPTV says, “I have long dreamed of this day, when artists, singers, authors and professional people could reach their audience directly in a truly interactive way with the most advanced technology available. Partnering with Savannah Music Group and G-SNAP! affords an unparalleled viewing and networking experience on a global scale. We are honored to be part of this groundbreaking effort.” Featuring BIT’s proprietary video compression technology, true HD streaming is now possible for both live and recorded events, not just on small screens but larger 40+ inch screens which takes the viewing experience to a whole new level. BIT IPTV can be accessed on www.bitiptv.com.

LAUNCHED! Embed Video into Your Snapcast!

February 26, 2009

We have a new feature we’re excited to share with you!

Just launched, is a new tool to enable you to embed video directly into your Snapcast! It’s really easy.  Simply grab the video embed code from your favorite site (such as Ustream.tv, Justin.tv, QIK, or Mogulus) and your Snapcast will switch to split-screen video mode.  The video mode is especially useful if you are Snapcasting a live event where you have a live video feed.

As an example, you can check out a Snapcast from a concert in Nashville that had a live video feed and of course, a live Snapcast!  This one was  a lot of fun and hopefully a point of inspiration for folks.  While the band was playing, viewers on the Snapcast were asking for dedications.  Now talk about a virtual stadium!  Does that give you an ideas?  :)

LAUNCHED! Moderation and more!

January 15, 2009

It must be your lucky day!  Two posts from the G-SNAP! team.  Woohoo!

Well, today we’re proud to announce the availability of some new features.  Here they are:

1.  Moderation:  in order to control the quality of your content, you now have a few choices as how you deal with viewer comments or viewers themselves.

  • Viewer comments:  By default comments are visible but you can also set comments to hidden (via Snapcast settings).  That means a comment must be approved prior to it being posted to the Snapcast.
  • Trusted contributor:  If you set comments to hidden, you can promote a user who is doing a good job to be a “trusted contributor”.  That is, all future comments they write will be automagically approved.
  • Ban user: well, this isn’t exciting but it’s necessary.  If you have a viewer causing you grief, you can boot them from your Snapcast.

A few additional features we launched:

  • End Snapcast:  by popular demand, you now have the ability to end your Snapcast.  So, when you choose to do so, people can’t enter in any additional comments.
  • Default Snapcast: for those of you who use our mobile product, setting a specific Snapcast to be your default Snapcast will make your x-casting a little easier.  When you xcast, you no longer need to specify the Snapcast ID.  Just enter a subject and you’re off to the races!
  • Inappropriate word filter: we’ve had this for a little while but now you have the ability to turn it off (it’s on by default).  Please continue to keep it as clean as possible as there might be a younger crowd in attendance!

Well, that’s about it for now.  Enjoy the new features.  As always, please keep the emails coming as we love to hear your thoughts and requests.
